About Dr. Honzel

Dr. Nikki Honzel is currently an assistant professor in Psychology at Carroll College.  Dr. Honzel completed her Ph.D. at the University of Louisville investigating neurophysiological changes associated with gaining and losing rewards.  Following graduate school, she worked with Dr. Swick at the Veterans Affair Medical Center in Northern California.  Research in Dr. Swick's lab used electrophysiology and neuropsychological testing to examine patients with traumatic brain injury as well as patients with post-traumatic stress disorder.  Previous research interests include investigating the neurophysiological changes in high-risk and low-risk decisions as well as finding a potential biomarker to detect symptom severity in patients with PTSD. Dr. Honzel's neurophysiology lab is currently using neuropsychological assessments to evaluate the impact of social support on cognition and mental health.
